This web site has been designed specifically to address this need. Jobs in Advice is a targeted, effective way for you to reach the very best candidates for your vacancy.

Not only do we have unprecedented reach within the advice sector to reach existing advice professionals, we also target new entrants to the sector – volunteers, graduates and those seeking a new challenge. We actively promote the site to major sources of potential candidates – universities, job and recruitment agencies and many more.

Your advert will contain all the details on the job including location, salary, job description, closing date and more.

You can upload a job pack for candidates to download. Candidates set up job alerts based on specific criteria so the details of your vacancy will be sent to the best candidates saving you time and effort.

1. How do I post a vacancy?

Simply email us on jobsinadvice@adviceuk.org.uk and we’ll take you through the quick and easy process. We’ll load the advert for you.

You’ll need:

  • The location
  • Salary
  • Job area (debt, immigration etc)
  • Job type (adviser, receptionist etc)
  • Salary
  • Working hours
  • Your logo and contact details
  • Any application packs you want to upload (pdfs only)

2. How much does the service cost?

The price for advertising depends on the kind of organisation and whether or not you are a member of AdviceUK.

The prices are as follows:

AdviceUK members: £50
Voluntary sector: £60
Public sector: £90
Commercial sector: £130

All prices are exclusive of VAT.

3. I am looking to really make my advert stand out. How can I do that?

Jobs in Advice has a “Job of the week” section and for a small extra charge your advert can be listed on the home page along with your organisation logo.

4. Can my organisation’s logo be displayed with the advert?

Yes, it can. Please send the logo as jpg file or as part of the Word document with the advert. If there are any special requirements in displaying your logo please let us know.

5. How quickly can my advert go online?

In general we can put the advert up within a few hours of receiving it. As soon as the advert is up we will send you an email with a link to your ad, to confirm it has gone up and for you to check if everything is in order.

6. Can my advert go live on a specific date?

Please let us know if you have any specific requirements regarding the time your advert should go up. We will try and accommodate you as far as possible.

7. I have spotted a mistake in my ad, can I change it? If you notice after we have posted the advert that there was a mistake within the text, then let us know as soon as possible. Please email your changes to jobsinadvice@adviceuk.org.uk jobsinadvice@adviceuk.org.uk and we will amend it as quickly as possible.

8. Do I have to pay VAT on my advert?

Advertising is subject to VAT, however, an exemption applies for charity advertising. If you are a charity entitled to this exemption, please contact us for the form. Once we have received your completed form we can issue you an invoice excluding VAT. If you are not a charity you need to pay VAT on any advertising placed with us.

9. I am advertising more than one job, do I get a discount?

If you place three or more adverts with us in one go you get a 50% discount on the third and all following adverts. The discount does not apply to any adverts placed at a later date.

10. Do you offer the option of advertising all our jobs for a year for a one-off fee?

We are happy to arrange an annual subscription. Contact us for more details.

11. I am trying to reach passive as well as active job seekers. Can the site help me reach them?

It certainly can. Many people log on for email alerts for a wide range of jobs in the advice sector so that they can keep an eye on new opportunities. Your advert will reach passive as well as active job seekers.

12. How long will my advert remain on your website?

The advert will appear on our website until the closing date, or six weeks, whichever comes first.

13. We use an advertising agency, how does that affect things?

Agencies placing adverts with us are charged at the commercial sector rate, so for you it will be more cost effective to place your job advertising with us directly. Simply contact us and we’ll let you know how much you could save.

14. Can you help us place our job advert in the media?

Members of AdviceUK get around 20% discount on adverts in the Guardian and have access to a free typesetting service for advertising in other publications. Please contact AdviceUK’s membership team to find out more: 020 7469 5702.

15. We are not an advice centre. Can we still advertise with you?

You certainly can! Our service is used a lot by the not-for-profit sector, commercial organisations, local authorities, government bodies and departments and universities.

16. I work for an advice centre – can we link to your jobs page?

Yes, you can. To link to the home page use www.jobsinadvice.org.uk. If you have advertised a job you can also link to the specific site page.

17. We are an advertising agency, how do we advertise our clients’ vacancies?

Please contact the membership team at AdviceUK on 020 7469 5702, or email the advert straight to jobsinadvice@adviceuk.org.uk. As a recruitment/advertising agency you will be charged the commercial rate of £120 +VAT per advert. We don’t offer an agency discount per se, but we will consider certain price reductions based on the volume of adverts you place with us.
