Salary - £30,011 to £32,800 (depending on experience)
Newcastle Law Centre® is looking for an experienced manager, committed to quality legal advice for those who most need it and who is looking for an exciting opportunity for personal development.
The successful candidate would be joining the Law Centre at an exciting time. Until two years ago, the Law Centre operated as a collective but in January 2008, it was felt that because of the Centre's expansion we needed to operate in a different way and one of the solicitors was appointed as part time manager. That person will now be leaving the Law Centre and it has been decided that we need a full time manager to take us forward.
Many of the changes needed to make the Centre successful have been brought in but there are still challenges ahead, not least the joint bid we will be submitting to the Legal Services Commission with The Rights Project to provide an integrated Social Welfare Law service.
We specialize in the following areas of law:
Asylum & Immigration; Housing; Welfare Benefits; Employment; Discrimination (employment and goods & services); and Judicial Review
In addition to funding from Newcastle City Council, and a number of smaller grants, our work is funded by the Legal Services Commission and we are the only body in the North East of England to receive funding from the Equalities and Human Rights Commission for legal casework.
Final Salary Local Government Pension available - 31 days holiday P.A.(including three days between Christmas and New Year)
For informal discussion please speak to George Vickers, the current manager.
Closing Date: Noon, 15 Feb 2010 Interviews: 19 Feb 2010
